In Arizona, the Parents as Paid Caregivers (PPCG) program allows parents and guardians who qualify to be paid caregivers for Attendant Care and Habilitation Services for their children. The children (member) will have to be approved for the services by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS). The PPCG program allows parents to provide Habilitation and Attendant Care services only. Parents using the PPCG service model cannot exceed 40 hours of paid care in a given week and can only work for a single Qualified Vendor agency. It is also important to remember that paid caregivers can only provide 16 hours of paid care in a 24-hour period. This applies to all caregivers providing all services. It is not specific to parents in the PPCG service model. Parents are excluded from providing Respite services for their children. However, limitations exist for the PPCG program.
Additional information about the PPCG program can be found on the AHCCCS website. https://azahcccs.gov/AHCCCS/Downloads/COVID19/FAQ_ParentsAsPaidCaregivers.pdf
