Respite Care is designed to provide short-term care and supervision to relieve caregivers from their duties. Services are provided as a planned or unplanned non-routine interval of rest and/or relief to a family member or other unpaid person who provides ongoing care for the member. The Member and their caregivers decide how best to use this service and are encouraged to use this service flexibly and adaptively, as their needs arise. This service can help to mitigate support emergencies, ensuring that caregivers can continue to deliver support. Respite Care includes, but is not limited to:
- Supervision of the member for the respite period
- Provision of services during the Respite Care period that are within the respite provider’s scope of practice
- Provision of activities and services to meet the social, emotional, physical, and behavioral needs of the member during the Respite Care period
